Claddagh Ring Meaning

A Claddagh Ring shows that true love, loyalty and friendship exist between the person giving the ring and the wearer.

How to wear a Claddagh Ring

If the Claddagh ring is worn on the left hand with the heart towards the wearer it signifies that the wearer is in a relationship, if the Claddagh ring is worn with the heart outwards then it signifies that the wearer is looking to share their heart. However beware the Claddagh ring worn on the right hand with the heart inwards! This means that the wearer is not interested in a relationship.

History Claddagh Ring.

The history of the Claddagh Ring goes back over 300 years to the village of Claddagh in Ireland. The Claddagh name comes from “An Cladach” an Gaelige word meaning a Flat StonyShore.

How to Wear a Claddagh Ring.

The Claddagh Ring is traditionally worn on the left hand with the heart pointing inwards if you are in a relationship. Wearing a Claddagh ring on either hand with the heart pointing out and the Crown inwards means that you are looking for love or friendship. Nevertheless be careful! Wearing your Claddagh ring on the right hand with the heart in and the crown pointing outwards means that you do not want a relationship.

Claddagh Tradition

Claddagh Ring Facts

The Claddagh Ring origionally comes from a village just outside Galway City. The ring can be worn in two ways to show your standing in the matters of Love. When the claddagh ring is worn with the heart pointing towards you it signifies that you are in a relationship and when worn with the heart facing outwards it means you are looking for love. The two hands on either side of the heart represent friendship and the heart represents love, the crown above the heart represents loyalty, and it is thus that represents the traditional Irish wedding band.

This Rovada Ladies Claddagh wrist watch is Gold plated and embossed with the claddagh design. On the face of the watch you have engraved the meaning of the claddagh, friendship, loyalty, and love.

The strap is embroidered with the claddagh design.

The watch is approximately 1″ diameter and has a battery life of 2 years, it also comes boxed and a 1 years warranty of parts and labor.

The origin of the claddagh symbol dates back to the 16th century when a native of Galway City a Richard Joyce who was captured on his way to the west indies by a the Algerian Corsairs. Richard Joyce was sold as a slave to a goldsmith who trained him in the art of jewelery making, after his training the goldsmith gave Richard Joyce back his freedom. Upon his return to his native village of Claddagh just on the out skirts of Galway City, he started to make jewelery the way his old master had taught him, he subsequently came up with the design of the symbol we know today, the Claddagh which was very quickly taken up by the local people as a Betrothal or wedding symbol. Because of its popularity and tradition you will see this symbol a lot on Irish Jewellery especially on the Claddagh Ring. It is now very much an international symbol of great friendship and love.

The Salmon of Knowledge is made from the finest quality solid silver and hallmarked in Dublin Castle.

The exquisite design of this Salmon of Knowledge piece is intricate and a credit to its’ designer.

A gift of the Salmon of Knowledge would be appreciated by anyone for a communion or confirmation present . A graduation present of the Salmon of Knowledge would remind the student that the knowledge they have gained is only the start of their quest for knowledge.

The Salmon of Knowledge is crafted from solid silver and comes with a solid silver 18″ chain.

Salmon of Knowledge

According to Irish Mythology it was an ordinary salmon that ate the nine hazelnuts that fell into the Fountain of Wisdom from the nine hazelnut trees, that surrounded the fountain. From the Fountain of Wisdom five rivers flowed out including the River Boyne and the River Shannon. After eating the nine hazelnuts, the salmon gained all the knowledge in the world. The first person to eat its flesh would in turn gain all of this knowledge.

The salmon was caught by Finegas, a poet and teacher of many years. While his apprentice Fionn Mac Cumhaill was cooking the great fish, Fionn burned his thumb on the flesh of the salmon and immediately sucking his thumb to ease the pain, fulfilled the ancient prophecy, that he who first tastes the Salmon of Knowledge would posess all the knowledge his mind can hold. It was this great knowledge and wisdom gained from the Salmon of Knowledge that allowed Fionn to become Leader of the Fianna, the famed heroes of Irish Mythology.

Why not buy the Salmon of Knowledge for yourself or a friend or perhaps one of our other Celtic Jewelry pieces

Keywords: Salmon of Knowledge Jewelry, Celtic Salmon of Knowledge
It has Christian architecture as you will find in many religious structures and you’ll also come across it in the Christian texts and writing. The interwoven design has many different meanings. Many believe that because these knots have no beginning or end that they symbolize eternity. For many it also symbolizes the spiritual quest to be reborn or people trying to understand and make sense of the maze that they are traveling in life.

Once upon a time there lived a King named Lir. He lived in Ireland with his wife and four children. Fionnuala was the eldest of the four children. She had three brothers, Aodh, Fiachra and Conn. They all lived in a beautiful castle in the middle of a forest. When Lir’s wife died he and his children were very sad. Lir married again and his new wife was called Aoife. She was very jealous of Lir’s children and one day cast a spell over the children turning them into four swans.

The children were to spend 300 years in Lough Derravaragh, 300 years in the Sea of Moyle and 300 years in the waters of Irish Glora. They were to remain as swans for 900 years, until a Christian bell heralds a new age and then the children would be released from their spell.

One day while on the waters of Irish Glora, they heard the sound of a church bell and seeing a monk on the shoreline they told him their story. The swans asked the monk to turn them back into humans, so he did.
